Why this route

Brasov-Ghimbav to Luton is the route that justifies the airport's existence on most UK-bound itineraries — the only point-to-point to a London-area airport, and a lift Wizz Air took on early because the Romanian-UK leisure and visiting-friends-and-relatives market is huge. Frequencies vary by season but expect three to four operating days a week year-round, doubling for school holidays. Direct routings to Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted from GHV do not exist.

Getting from the airport to London

From Luton's terminal, the fastest path into central London is the DART shuttle to Luton Airport Parkway (3 minutes) and a Thameslink train to St Pancras (24 minutes). Buy the combined ticket from the machine — it's cheaper than separate fares and the shuttle accepts contactless on tap-in. Door-to-door this runs about £25 and 50 minutes. The cheaper alternative is the National Express coach to Victoria (~80 minutes, often £10-15 if booked in advance), which makes sense for late-evening arrivals when Thameslink frequency drops. Avoid Uber from LTN — surge pricing is brutal and the M1 grinds to a halt almost any time.

Coming back, give yourself 2.5 hours at Luton — security queues are unpredictable and the terminal walk to the gate is long. Romanian travellers should note that Luton's duty-free runs heavily UK-style, so spirits and tobacco prices are competitive but Romanian-specific items are absent.
