Wizz Air Malta is the Maltese subsidiary of Wizz Air, set up in 2022 with a Maltese AOC (Air Operator's Certificate) so the group could keep flying its full route network when individual aircraft were repositioned out of the Hungarian operation. From a passenger standpoint it is indistinguishable from the parent carrier — same brand, same booking flow on wizzair.com, same crew uniforms, same aircraft type, same baggage policy — only the operational paperwork is different. What this means for someone flying from Brasov on a W4-coded flight: nothing changes about how you book, check in, or board. The flight number on your boarding pass starts with W4 instead of W6, but the seat map, the fare bundles, the check-in deadlines and the discount-club discounts all work identically. You can book a W6-coded outbound and a W4-coded return on the same Wizz booking and it shows up as one round-trip ticket with one reference. The legal subtlety only matters in compensation cases. Because Wizz Air Malta is registered as a Maltese carrier, the cancellation and delay regulation that applies to a W4 flight is still EU261 (Malta is in the EU), but any small-claims escalation in Romanian consumer-protection courts may need to address the Maltese entity rather than the Hungarian one. Keep the boarding pass — the legal name of the operator is printed on it. Romanian travellers won't notice the Maltese registration in practice. The aircraft serving Brasov rotates through whichever Wizz subsidiary the network plan assigns that month; on a given flight, the operator change happens with no announcement.
